New Zealand – HaiMIC’s trip

New Zealand is an island country in the Southern hemisphere. It is located about 2,000 km from Australia.

The area is 268,000 square kilometers, about 80% of Vietnam. The population is less than half that of Ho Chi Minh City, only 5.1 million people, mainly (72%) of European origin. Of these, 1.7 million live in the capital, Auckland, located in the north of the island.

Spacious land. Sparsely populated. Boring. But many tourists. In 2019, a total of nearly 4 million foreigners visited.

New Zealand means new green land. Looking down from the sky, it is green color of young banana or rice.
Habbiton Village – Matamata
Across the lake are the underground houses in the hillside.
The House of the Dwarves from the movie “Lord of the Rings”.
In the north of the island, there are many craters. Watch steam erupt from the ground at Waiotapu.
Overnight in Rotorua. Smoke was rising day and night. The city everywhere reeks of sulfur. Headache made it impossible to sleep.

Just a week ago (November 14, 2016) – New Zealand experienced a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, the second largest since Europeans migrated here.

Arrive Wellington in the evening. There are signs everywhere apologizing for the chaos of the streets due to the aftershocks that have not been cleared up. At night on the 11th floor of the hotel, sometimes I still feel swaying.

Breakfast in the center. The streets are empty of people. The timing doesn’t seem right for travel. Remember the disappointed eyes of the father and son from Slovenia when they checked in last night when they learned that the consequences of last week’s earthquake were still present.
Statue of Richard Seddon at Parliament House. Hire an Uber to get around the city. Why is the country peaceful and beautiful but not many people come to live? The driver has ancestry from the Netherlands, he is over 60 years old. He replied: Boring and low salary. Young people want to go abroad.
Drive along Massey Road, Maupuia. Here the Point Halswell Lighthouse is located.

I planed to be in Wellington for 3 days. But traveling alone and the haunting information about earthquake aftershocks made me a bit nervous. I decided to check out hotel and fly south, the tourist capital of New Zealand. This place is always crowded.

That is the view from the hotel window. Across the lake is downtown Queenstown.
I rented the Yaris car. Driving around alone to enjoy the scenery.
Right-hand drive car, I still don’t get used to it. Fortunately, the road is empty, the drivers are willing to yield, so there is no big problem.
The road from Glenorchy to Haast River.

I stayed at a hotel in Queenstown so I chose the 200km stretch from Gelnorchy to the Haast River, for no particular reason. When I see a beautiful place, I stop to take pictures. I saw the View of Lake Hawea, Wanaka, Wakatipu. I drove all day and passed by: Wanaka, Cardrona, Arrowtown.

The black dog is very clever. He knows how to herd and lie far away to keep the sheep close to the road for guests to take pictures.
This is the Women’s Bra Fence in the Cardrona Valley. Rumor has it that in 1999, four unnamed female tourists celebrated the New Year here. After leaving late at night, they decided to take off their bras and hang them on the fence, as a unique farewell to the old year. Passersby started adding their underwear to the fence. This story turns this place into a colorful attraction that makes the locals feel suffocated.
An unknown thief began to cut them off in the dark, the fence became famous. Each time they are cut, more is added. The tit-for-tat game gained media attention, and ironically, more bras.
I also contributed a set.

The local government then used it as a breast cancer donation campaign (it raised $30,000 in 2015). Similar fences have appeared in Wairarapa, Tapawera, Nelson (New Zealand). The phenomenon then spread to Iceland.

The next day I went a tour from Queenstowsn to Aoraki Mount Cook. This trip combines bus and boat.

Lake Punstan.
Lake Pulaski.
Those who want to ski can fly directly to the top of the mountain to experience it.
I went to the Casino to spend some money.
To take a good photo, you need to choose the right location. Me and the tourist I met by chance, were very pleased with the enjoyment of this pose.
To have a photo “for a life”.
Communicating with street artists. Talk about the harp. This girl claims it comes from Ireland, her hometown. As for me, I think the zither is from Asia…
See you next time when you come to Vietnam, we will perform together…

Then I finally said goodbye to New Zealand. I can’t check in with my purchased flight ticket. Need an Australian visa which I don’t have. Because this flight is transiting in Sydney. I had to spend the night at New Zealand’s capital Auckland airport.

The photo is titled “Travel Story…”

I look at the picture I took. A New Zealand resident saw it and said: “My country’s scenery is so beautiful”. American tourists commented: “American quality iPad makes really sharp photos”. The German man said:’”The German technology Leica camera is different, takes great pictures!”… Why does no one praise a Vietnamese person who knows how to use high-end technology from the US and Germany to record style New Zealand’s natural landscape…

The photo above gives rise to philosophical thinking about asset. More specifically, for any asset, there are three different persons present: 1/ the user – 2/ the holder of the asset – and 3/ the person who has the right to dispose of asset. There will be a separate post on this topic later.

Early the next morning, a private jet came to take me to Singapore. From there I flew back to Vietnam.
